We introduced a new class of forestry machines in March 2020. A small, light and agile harvester that offers plenty of power, a stable working environment and a full-reach crane.
The Prosilva S3 harvester has proved popular with customers. In several discussions, the question raised was: “Could I have a slightly bigger harvester head?” We didn’t compromise and developed a big brother for the S3, the Prosilva S5. The design was based on the same approach and concept; a light, narrow, high-performance machine with a simple and easy-to-maintain design. The S5 offers all the benefits of the S3 but in a more robust package.
Agility, efficiency and operator comfort
The S5 harvester has all the excellent features and power of its little brother the S3 Its crane base is a reinforced HD model, which allows larger cranes and harvester heads to be used safely and conveniently.
As a six-wheeler this harvester is stable and easy to use. The wheel arrangement (34 ”rear and 26.5” front), is the harvester’s winning feature, giving it an excellent load-bearing capacity on soft surfaces. With its narrow design and low centre of gravity the S5 leaves as small a footprint as possible in the forest.
The S5 harvester is a pleasure to work in as the ergonomics, space and visibility of the cab are top notch. Operator comfort is further enhanced by automatic cab rotation as well as optional automatic stabilization.

Ab Bromarv Skogstjänst from Raseborg acquired its fourth ProSilva harvester.
The company CEO Lars Lindström says that it has only been natural to stay with the tried and tested machine brand.
“The service has worked really well here in the south as well, and there has been no need to stop the machine unnecessarily. Thanks to professionalism gained through long experience Ab Bromarv Skogstjänst is contracted to the Forest Management Association for the Southern Forest District to carry out thinning work. There have been and will certainly be enough thinning contracts in the future as there is a forest management backlog here in the south just as there is elsewhere. ”
Lars Lindströn chose the Waratah H212 as the harvester head for the Prosilva S3, as it is best suited for thinning.
Matias and Mauri Verhola from Pohja near Raseborg acquired a new ProSilva S3 harvester.
In the picture, operating and maintenance training is provided by ProSilva’s Kalle Perttula on the left and Waratah’s Mika Laakso on the right, with Matias Verhola in the middle.
This new ProSilva S3 is not a new introduction to the brand for Matias and Mauri. They have previously had two ProSilva 810 harvesters. The Verhola brothers have one machine contracted to L&T Biowatti Oy for work in Raseborg and its surrounding municipalities.
The brothers chose a Waratah H212 harvester head for the ProSilva S3 harvester fitted with grapples. “Only the log is separated from the stand, the rest is made into biomass,” says Matias.
From peat production to forestry.
Reijo Anttila started as a peat contractor in 1992. He began forest harvesting in 2003 to support himself during the winter months. Reijo’s first harvester was a four wheeled Otso fitted with a harvester head that he used for thinning. This lasted 6 years during which the machines changed a few times. Once again, in 2009, Reijo focused exclusively on peat contracting throughout the year. In 2013 he was offered a contract with the Finnish Forest Management Association and acquired a Prosilva 910 special harvester fitted with tracks suitable for soft ground. Reijo started harvesting wood for biomass in 2018 using a Profi 500 harvester equipped with a Moipu 300 cutting head.
A new ProSilva S3 with two harvester heads
The Prosilva S3 is Reijo’s first new harvester and it even has two different type harvester heads.
“The aim is to make bioenergy mass in the summer season and logs and pulp wood in winter. If necessary the harvester head can be replaced in a couple of hours since the rotator has a quick coupling to mount either of the heads, ”says Reijo.
The Naarva EF 28 (a feeding energy wood head) measures length so it can combine the harvesting of pulpwood and biomass wood. With the Kesla 21 RH III, you can make logs, pulp and biomass wood.
All in all, Reijo and Raimo Anttila say that they are positively surprised by the performance of their new Prosilva S3 harvester.
